Psychological thriller “Barrel” had its international premiere at the Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival in California earlier this month.
It is with great excitement that Mova Production presents the project “Barrel” – a gripping psychological thriller marking the return of one of European cinema’s brightest stars, Til Schweiger. After a hiatus of almost three years, the actor is back in film, continuing his impressive career following his work with Guy Ritchie in “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.” The movie features British actor Natan Paul-Collis as the lead.
The film “Barrel” was presented to an international audience for the first time at the prestigious Cinequest Film & Creativity Festival in California on March 12, 2026.
Logline:
A teenage-blogger is buried alive inside a metal barrel with his father chained aside. Their fight for survival becomes a brutal test of power, faith and parental responsibility where a single mistake can cost them their lives.
With elements of a thriller, “Barrel” is a gripping psychological thriller that centers on the relationship between Mark and Paul, a father and son, and their internal conflict between the past and present. The story takes place in an abandoned workshop where the characters are imprisoned, both mentally and physically. The film’s main themes are the generational struggle, the difficulty of forgiving others, and taking responsibility for past deeds.

“After almost a three year break due to illness, I truly appreciate the chance to be back on set. My last role was in Guy Ritchie’s ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’, and now I’ve returned in ‘The Barrel’. It was an inspiring experience that reminded me why I love filmmaking, and I can’t wait for audiences to discover this story.”
Alex Zvoncov
“I am pleased that we were able to uncover a challenging and vital topic – the topic of forgiveness. At the same time, we made the film exciting and spectacular. I’m confident that everyone will find something to contemplate, and perhaps ask for the forgiveness of the loved ones.”
Philippe Reinhardt
“Filming ‘Barrel’ was a real challenge – a fantastic script with a completely unique concept. A chamber play with great actors and an unbelievably talented director. The role was absolutely one of the most challenging ones in my career.
Those are exactly the kind of projects I love. It’s a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end, and the set was filled with an atmosphere of creativity and mutual support. For me, it was a tremendous experience and a truly fascinating role.”
Natan Paul-Collis
“I had a great time working on ‘Barrel’! I was well looked after by an amazing & hard-working crew, and felt very appreciated by my talented director and co-stars!”
