Hard-hitting thriller IN BROAD DAYLIGHT released in UK cinemas

Peter 'Witchfinder' HopkinsBy Peter 'Witchfinder' Hopkins23rd January 2024No Comments2 Mins Read

Central City Media is proud to release the hard-hitting drama IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, inspired by shocking real events, in UK cinemas.

IN BROAD DAYLIGHT reveals a little-known truth about residential care homes for the disabled that hides beneath the headlines. Written and directed by Lawrence Kwan Chun Kan, the film recalls the likes of Spotlight and The Post, where dogged and fearless journalists uncover alarming levels of rampant abuse and corruption.

Jennifer Yu (Sisterhood) stars as Kay, a young journalist who is told by a jaded veteran colleague that their work doesn’t make any difference – and sets out to prove him wrong. The cast also includes Bowie Lam (Hard Boiled) and Rachel Leung (A Light Never Goes Out).

Nominated for Best Film and Best Director at the Shanghai International Film Festival, as well as receiving five nominations at the Golden Horse Film Festival in Taiwan, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT is just the tip of a real social crisis iceberg, as pertinent around the world as it is in Hong Kong – and also questions whether journalism has lost its power to unearth the truth. Moving, disconcerting and above all, an important clarion call for compassion and respect, this is cinema at its most powerful and profound.

    Synopsis:

A news organisation’s investigative journalism unit receives a tip about the abuse of residents in Rainbow Bridge Care Home. To expose the home’s wrongdoings, reporter Kay goes undercover to expose the inhumanity inside, searching for the cruel truth in broad daylight.
