CACTUS JACK ** USA 2022 Dir: Chris Thornton & Jay Thornton. 80 mins
I’d been looking forward to watching this film as I often enjoy the mockumentary and found footage films.
Whilst this was a well made film, I don’t think the content was my sort of thing. We meet Cactus Jack when an amateur documentarian sets out to make a film about him. When he begins filming, Jack launches into a hateful tirade.
Whilst the character seems to be an off the scale extremist, yet he is quite ordinary for the world we live in. R. Michael Gull was rather emotive but after 20 minutes, I struggled to stay focused on what was merely becoming a speech rather than having any story to it.
For a minor budget, the acting and filmmaking were rather impressive, I just wouldn’t put this into the horror genre. It is more a political drama with minor gore.
