THE THEATRE OF TERROR *** U.S.A. 2019 Dir: Tom Ryan. 90 mins
When a young woman Amber (Lauren Renahan) answers a call looking for volunteers to help save a mysterious movie palace, she discovers she is too late. The rundown theatre has already been closed down. While visiting the movie palace she meets the mysterious Colin (Tom Ryan) who gives her a tour of the once adored theatre. Once Inside and trapped by the intriguing mystery of the old theatre she watches four tales of terror, and slowly realises she is in way over her head as the old movie palace hides a dark secret.
Essentially this is a horror anthology film, each story is loosely connected in some way but each story is a standalone tale of terror.
Director and writer Tom Ryan directs all four of the creepy tales here. I do love these style of anthologies where the director has full control throughout the production and the film becomes streamlined with quality, which really works here.
The tales include The Gift, Endangered, The Book Worm and Abducted. Each of the tales are very well acted with some awesome effects for a very low budget indie film. My favourite of the tales is The Gift, a very eerie horror thriller in which a lady of the night accidentally kills a man, steals his money and ends up in an old curiosity shop that will change her life forever.
I really enjoyed this spooky offering. If you are a fan of Tales From the Crypt, Tales From The Darkside or Creepshow you will really enjoy this awesome horror anthology.
