Reese Lightfoot’s The Demon in the Motherboard wins Best Short Film at the Astoria Film Festival.

By day, Morrigan is a top-tier coder and cybersecurity expert, protecting one of the most powerful tech firms from digital threats. By night, she ventures into the shadows of the dark web, hunting for whispers of The Demon in the Motherboard—a legendary relic rumored to be either an all-powerful AI or a mind-rewriting virus. Driven by obsession and curiosity, she blurs the line between guardian and hacker, determined to uncover the truth behind the myth, no matter the cost.

Reese Lightfoot is a New York-based filmmaker and storyteller with a passion for capturing raw, authentic moments. Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, he honed his artistic foundation at a creative and performing arts high school, studying visual arts. He later pursued video journalism at Point Park University but found himself drawn to the limitless possibilities of cinematic storytelling. Now residing in Astoria, NY, Reese brings his imaginative vision to life through films that explore deep human connections, unfiltered realities, and the blurred lines between technology and identity.
