Acclaimed filmmaker, podcaster, and movie journalist Rick Danford creates a love letter to the horror films and classic radio shows he enjoyed as a child.
BayView Entertainment LLC is proud to announce its distribution of the upcoming film, The Clock from writer-director Rick Danford. The thriller tells the blood-curdling tale of strange things that happen when a couple bring an ancient Grandfather Clock into their home. Will they solve the mystery of its sinister origins before time runs out?!
Released under BayView Entertainment’s VIPCO label, the film pays homage to the many creepy, creaky old house horrors Rick Danford enjoyed as a child, from such movie producers as Hammer Films, Amicus, AIP, New World Pictures, and Full Moon Features.
It also keys in to one of the elements that can make a horror film so memorable: sound. With good reason.
“As a kid I always loved old time radio shows,” explains Danford. “My Father introduced me to old western radio shows, The Shadow and others. But the horror radio shows were always my favorite. There were so many amazing stories that would keep me up at night.”
The ticking of the giant timekeeper, an omnipresent source of unease in The Clock, is quite intentional.
“This story was developed from one of those old shows I remembered hearing when I was a child,” continues Danford. “I truly feel Hollywood should look to the radio programs of our youth for inspiration rather than the constant remakes, reboots and sequels we see every day.”
With several film shorts, features, and even some podcast dramas recreating the OTR of his youth, Danford recently took a full plunge into the world of terror. His digital magazine, “Indie Horror Junkie” has spawned a print version, a weekly podcast, and even an annual film festival.
The success of his ventures has enabled him to continue producing feature-length frights, and BayView Entertainment is happy to bring Danford’s films to the public.
“When we saw The Clock, we knew it had a certain something that made it special,” explained BayView’s VP of Acquisitions, Peter Castro.
“The chills and suspense of the story, along with the solid cast and effects, make this a thriller horror fans won’t want to miss.”
Horror film alumni among the cast include Shawn Ray, Paul Saulo, and in a featured role, Aimee Rolfsen from another BayView terror film, Harlow’s Haunt.
The “countdown” to the release of The Clock begins now… look for it on finer streaming platforms this summer from BayView Entertainment!
