FEED ME DEATH **** USA 2019 Dir: Matt Devino. 7 mins
Writer-director Matt Devino’s clever, creepy take on home invasion horror offers a neat unravelling of over-familiar genre territory. A young couple settling down for an evening of popcorn and horror movies are attacked in their home by a ghoulish, hooded assailant. Somehow making the infiltration of their domestic space even more disturbing is his peculiar insistence on apologising for his actions and adding “You don’t have to die if you feed me death…” Olivia Day is sympathetic and haunted in an evolving, surprising role in this well shot (by J.R. Kraus) chiller with a circular narrative and a chilling central threat.
