Shudder, AMC Networks’ premium streaming service for horror, thriller, and the supernatural, today revealed a chilling first look at its highly anticipated Shudder Original film, V.H.S. Mixtape, set to premiere on October 9, 2026. The movie cranks the signature found-footage horror up to eleven with an electrifying new anthology where music and sound become the source of terror. United by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess, and destroy, the film blends cosmic horror, psychological suspense, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects into one unforgettable mixtape of nightmares.Anchoring this groundbreaking installment is a standout segment directed by legendary horror icon Ernest Dickerson. Renowned for directing the beloved genre classic Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight and acclaimed episodes of The Walking Dead, Dickerson brings his masterclass vision of tension and dread to the anthology. Dickerson’s segment stars powerhouse actor Mike Ferguson, whose rapidly growing filmography has solidified his status as a prominent and formidable force in the indie horror and action communities. Known for his intense, scene-stealing screen presence and relentless work ethic, Ferguson brings a raw, captivating energy to Dickerson’s audio-centric nightmare, marking a thrilling collaboration between a genre master and one of modern horror’s most compelling talents.
Beyond this headlining segment, V.H.S. Mixtape rounds out its high-decibel tracklist with an exceptional lineup of visionary creators. The legendary Wu-Tang Clan mastermind and director of The Man with the Iron Fists, RZA, delivers a rhythmically driven descent into terror, while David Moreau, the acclaimed filmmaker behind The Them (Ils), brings his signature tense pacing to the mix. Additionally, Renee Zhan, the award-winning director of O Black Hole!, helms a visually stunning segment featuring original, terrifying fabrications brought to life by the legendary Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.
The sonic terror expands further with contributions from major musical innovators. Acclaimed musician and filmmaker Flying Lotus provides the connective tissue for the anthology, contributing eerie and hypnotic music video interludes throughout the film. Marking a major crossover event, debut filmmaker Tobias Forge—the creative mastermind behind the Grammy-winning rock band Ghost—contributes a highly stylized, haunting music video segment, while intergalactic heavy metal icons GWAR make a special featured appearance to deliver their trademark brand of outrageous, blood-soaked chaos. V.H.S. Mixtape will be available exclusively on Shudder and streaming on AMC+ starting Friday, October 9, 2026.
