HOLIDAY CHEER TURNS TO FEAR IN LONG WINTER NIGHTS, A NEW HORROR STORY ADVENT CALENDAR PODCAST PREMIERES DEC 1

Michael JoyBy Michael Joy23rd November 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Every night, a new little door. Every door, a new little horror.

Award-winning storytellers Matthew G. Hill, Chelsea Sutton, and Lisa Sanaye Dring, best know for writing and directing the Emmy-nominated Welcome to the Blumhouse Live experience, present LONG WINTER NIGHTS, a free holiday horror advent calendar podcast. The series uses audio flash fiction to combine the beloved ritual of an advent calendar with the centuries-old tradition of telling ghost stories at Christmastime. LONG WINTER NIGHTS will premiere December 1 across Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Spotify and all major podcast platforms.

Inspired by the dark heart of the holiday season, LONG WINTER NIGHTS unfolds as a modern horror advent calendar: 25 original tales of Yuletide terror, each released nightly from December 1 through Christmas Day. From twisted traditions to ancient specters and midnight rituals, every story reveals a different face of winter’s chill.

Each episode is a short audio horror story, inviting audiences into a macabre seasonal ritual framed by a recurring motif: a mysterious cabinet door and a narrator who warns:

“Every night, a new little door. Every door, a new little horror.”

Developed and directed by Hill, Sutton, and Dring, LONG WINTER NIGHTS fuses the intimacy of radio horror with the immersive artistry the trio are known for across film, theatre, and interactive media. The series explores primal winter fears and the darkness that seeps into even the most joyful traditions. The series is appropriate for ages 16 and up.

The series also features an original score by Adrien Prévost, the Ovation Award–winning composer of Kaidan Project: Walls Grow Thin and Wood Boy Dog Fish. The stories are performed by a cast including Dawn Anderson, Mark Bramhall, Zachary Bones, Lacey Katena, Amir Levi, Max Pava, Sarah Kay Peters, Rose Portillo, Keiana Richàrd, Christopher Rivas, and Zoe Yale.
