Screamify Secures Justin Sulham’s Big Bad Betty as an Exclusive Screamify Original

Acquisition brings the Nashville-made creature feature, Sulham’s long-awaited feature debut, to the indie-horror streamer’s growing slate of Originals.

Screamify, the independent horror streaming platform, today announced it has acquired worldwide exclusive rights to Big Bad Betty, the forthcoming feature film written and directed by Massachusetts-born, Nashville-based filmmaker Justin Sulham. The movie will premiere later this year as a Screamify Original, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to spotlighting fearless new voices in horror.

    About the Filmmaker

Justin Sulham, 44, began his filmmaking journey as a teenager, shooting school projects on Hi‑8 and mini‑DV. Over the years, he built a professional résumé working as a grip, dolly grip, key grip, gaffer, and camera operator. His 2023 horror short Sanguinary served as the creative springboard for Big Bad Betty, his first full-length feature. Sulham draws inspiration from filmmakers like Ron Howard, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Craven, and John Carpenter, with a deep affinity for late-’90s and early-2000s genre cinema.

Before turning full-time to filmmaking, Sulham spent time as a professional wrestler, competing across Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, and Ohio Valley Wrestling. He credits that experience with shaping the showmanship and confidence he now brings behind the camera.

    About Big Bad Betty

Originally envisioned as a Sasquatch story and later a werewolf tale, Big Bad Betty evolved into a wholly original creature feature following the release of Sanguinary. The story centers on Sarah, a young woman restoring her late grandfather’s horse ranch, who, alongside her friends, encounters a predatory entity tied to the land’s dark legacy. Shot in Tennessee through Sulham’s production banner Rusted Lantern Pictures, the film features a predominantly Nashville-based crew and takes full advantage of the region’s burgeoning indie film infrastructure.
