The release of the last The Doctors DVDs marks the end of an incredible journey. It was back in 2017 that the first in the series ‘The Jon Pertwee Years’ was released … and over the past 6 years they have slowly built into the most comprehensive and in-depth part-work about any television series ever undertaken.
THE DOCTORS are compilations of individual interviews with the stars and production staff from DOCTOR WHO, titled MYTH MAKERS, filmed over nearly 40 years and including many actors and crew who are, sadly, no longer alive. So it’s a unique collection too. The incredible subject list includes: TOM BAKER, JON PERTWEE, COLIN BAKER, PAUL McGANN and SYLVESTER McCOY… the complete set of 24 DVDs includes over 150 interviews!
After overseeing the entire collection, for me, this is an incredible collection that Doctor Who fans will treasure – a part-work you might say. Perhaps also, something in years to come that people will refer to when looking at television production in the 20th century. Nothing like it has ever been filmed before … and by definition can never be made now.
