The underground filmmaker René Wiesner is back!
Wiesner recently gained attention through his films Mondo Siam, a feature-length shockumentary
that was shot entirely on original locations in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos and the shortfilm
collection Pulp Films – both available in the US at Vile Video Productions – which made him a
household name in the underground scene. After the constant work on short films of various kinds
in the underground throughout the years he is now back with a new documentary.
The feature length movie Michael, Sammler (English for Michael, collector) which was just
recently finished will be retitled as Michael: A Murderabilia Memoriam for the upcoming DVD
world premiere. Respected underground filmmaker Jonathan Doe (Barf Bunny) will distribute the
movie via his label Vile Video Productions. The new poster is created by no one less than the
creator legend Martin Trafford who has been active in the scene for several decades already.
The documentary centers around Michael, a collector of true crime memorabilia and murder art
with a unique collection who opens his cellar door and gives access to his vault for the first time.
From such items such paintings of John Wayne Gacy and Richard Ramirez, belongings of Aileen
Wuornos, to personal letters of Charles Manson. Michael gives a detailed insight into his mind
and motivation, personal history and dreams for the future. Another part of the collection are
hundreds of letters of personal correspondence with various death cell inmates mostly from the US.
And last (but certainly not least) let us not forget to mention the cupboard full of human skulls…
Michael: A Murderabilia Memoriam will be released on DVD at end of September. The presales
have started with only 150 copies available and no other release in the near future is planned.
