Filmmaker Tony Newton (Virus of the Dead, Amityville Hex, VHS Lives) has started production on a new low budget indie film called The Amityville Exorcist.
Just within one hour into filming, the news of Ronald DeFeo dying at the age of 69 in prison broke on social media. DeFeo’s murders was the inspiration for the original Amityville Horror film.

Tony Newton the producer stated that one cast member instantly left the production upon hearing the news, and two other crew members a producer and actor emailed him late last night saying they will no longer be a part of the film now as it’s just too much of an eerie coincidence..
