AWARD-WINNING DIRECTOR EMMA DARK’S RETRO SCI-FI HORROR ‘SALIENT MINUS TEN’ RELEASED

Peter 'Witchfinder' HopkinsBy Peter 'Witchfinder' Hopkins1st June 20208 Comments3 Mins Read

Having recently completed a successful run on the film festival circuit, award-winning director Emma Dark’s cerebral, retro sci-fi/horror short SALIENT MINUS TEN now comes to DVD and Digital.

    Synopsis:

Adam Harper is an average man. And on an average day he suddenly finds himself catapulted into the strangest, reality changing game… A game of time and chance, where the stakes are a matter of life and death.

Starring Alan Austen (Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back) as Adam Harper, with writer/director Emma Dark also taking a role as the antagonist of the story – The Woman. Chris Hampshire and Beric Read, alumni of Emma’s previous film Seize The Night (2015) star in supporting roles alongside newcomer Samantha Oci. The film is scored by LA-based composer Eric Elick and was shot by renowned DoP Philip Bloom (Red Tails, The Wonder List with Bill Weir). Other crew include sound designer Chris Collier, VFX artist Davy Simmons, and SFX makeup artist Mike Peel (The Descent, Evil Aliens, Shed Of The Dead).

SALIENT MINUS TEN’s festival journey began in 2017 when it received a glitzy world premiere at Cineworld Leicester Square, London as part of The British Horror Film Festival, and went on to play at festivals including The Dark Side Magazine’s DarkFest, Starburst Magazine’s Media City Film Festival, Rue Morgue Magazine and Unstable Ground’s Little Terrors, Screenland Theatres and Downright Creepy’s Panic Fest, and many more!

The film picked up a number of awards and nominations during its festival run, including winning writer/director Emma Dark ‘Best Director’ at Starburst Magazine’s Media City Film Festival, and the ‘Albert Pyun Inspiration Award’ at The Yellow Fever Independent Film Festival in 2018.

    Emma Dark commented:

“After much anticipation I’m proud to be able to present SALIENT MINUS TEN to a wider audience on both DVD and digital following a successful festival run. The project has been a labour of love for me, and I’ve consistently been involved in the production in a much wider capacity than writer/director. I do hope people enjoy the film and I’d like to thank all my wonderful cast and crew for supporting my vision, and doing such a fantastic job of it.”

Autographed DVDs are available exclusively from Emma’s Etsy store (etsy.com/uk/shop/EmmaDarkOfficial), and come packaged as a BBFC 15 rated, two disc double bill presentation with Emma’s previous award-winning festival short, action/thriller SEIZE THE NIGHT. Collectors packs are available which include the DVD, alternative SALIENT MINUS TEN cover art by Simon Pritchard (artbeat64.com), and a set of four mini lobby cards.

The soundtrack was fantastic, it fitted perfectly with the scene and intensified the hopelessness that the man was feeling what was going on. I was totally engaged till the end.
