THE ACID SORCERER ** U.S.A. 2017 Dir: Dakota Bailey 50 mins
Dakota Bailey (AMERICAN SCUMBAGS) is back with another host of degenerates in his third feature film. Here we enter a world full of darkness and follow characters such as the serial killer Smoke, a prostitute with HIV, a sadistic drug dealer, a drug addicted couple and a cross dressing snuff filmmaker.
To say that this film doesn’t have variation in character would be a lie. As we meet each character we see them struggle with their vices, their moral compass and their final call….death. Don’t expect Hollywood grade acting or style here as this film goes for the natural unpolished look of a seedy, dark underworld that most would rather pretend doesn’t exist under their very feet. As a filmmaker Bailey is showing more promise by each film he does though you do have to have an acquired filmic taste to enjoy them. Still, he is worth following as an underground talent as he is sure to open your eyes up to what can be done with little money and a lot of heart.
