Film Review: SKELETON KEY 3: PART 2 (2016)

    SKELETON KEY 3: PART 2 *** U.S.A. 2016 Dir: John Johnson 119 mins

I have never seen any of the previous Johnson Skeleton Key movies so this review is solely based on what is going on in this movie. This is the fourth and apparently final entry (will see) in the John Johnson Skeleton Key movies. It is worth pointing out that this has nothing to do with the 2005 film THE SKELETON KEY starring Kate Hudson. Where the hell do you start with this movie?
The storyline (if you can call it that) revolves around Howard (John Johnson) who has just come out of his carbonite prison in the town of Nilbog to a post-apocalyptic world full of zombies and a mad scientist. Teaming up with crazy characters such as the gay pirate, a muzzled leprechaun and a very busty anime girl, he must find the skeleton key and destroy the zombie king to bring the world back to some sense of normality. Apparently, as we are informed by several people throughout the film it has taken Howard 3 movies to do this already so he better get his shit together and get the job done. A lot of the lines seem to be improvised which in this film definitely suits it, if this was all scripted it would come across stale. There is a few musical numbers with my favourite being ‘This Shitz Gotta End‘ sung by the gay pirate. If musical numbers aren’t your thing then how about blood….well there isn’t much of that to be honest but there is plenty of boobs! Look out for B-movie actor Conrad Brooks (Plan 9 From Outer Space, Curse Of The Queerwolf) narrating the story at the beginning of the movie. The film clocks in at nearly 2 hours long and is not politically correct so if you are easily offended stay clear. If you like your films low class this will be right up your alley. Don’t take the film seriously and have fun watching the mad world of John Johnson’s SKELETON KEY.
