COUNTER CLOCKWISE *** U.S.A. 2016 Dir: George Moise 91 mins
Ethan (Michael Kopelow) is a very smart scientist who is working on a teleportation device. When he teleports his dog and it doesn’t return for several hours he wonders what could have gone wrong so decides to teleport himself.
What he discovers is that he has created by accident a time machine, so goes to seek out his assistant Fiona. She tells him some terrible news about his family and if things couldn’t get any worse there is some mysterious people after him. Ethan’s only hope is to use the time machine to figure what is going on and hopefully put everything back to normal. This film is definitely low budget but thats not to say that it uses its budget well. The plot is full of twists and turns which tie up nicely at the end. The only real downfall for this film I found was the character of Ethan, who despite being the lead wasn’t very interesting at all. There is some comic relief throughout in forms of dark humour with a nice mix of science fiction and thriller story telling. Time travel movies are always going to be a hit and even more so if they are done smartly like COUNTER CLOCKWISE is.
