‘NIGHT OF THE SLASHER’ was made as a self-referential genre film and it does it so much better then ‘SCREAM’ (sorry ‘SCREAM’ fans). Shot in one-take, the film follows our lead girl as she makes horror movie sins, dancing half naked, drinking beer, doing drugs and the ultimate horror movie sin……having sex, all to lure in a masked killer and get her revenge.
Really well played out by the cast members mostly to Lily Berlina as the throat slit ex-victim Jenelle who manages to tell you everything you need to know in her scenes just with a look or a facial expression. Great nods to slasher movies through the years too, one such notable mention should go to the Leonard Nimoy/Spock mask in place of the ‘HALLOWEEN’ William Shatner/Kirk mask for the killer. It isnt all about the horror though as it has its funny moments especially the sex scene. At eleven minutes long ‘NIGHT OF THE SLASHER’ has you wanting more and fingers crossed they make it in to a feature length film.
