Film Review: TAINTED LOVE – NIGHT OF THE INCUBUS (2014)

TAINTED LOVE – NIGHT OF THE INCUBUS *** U.K. 2014 Dir: Will Moore 108 Mins

Let me start right off the bat by saying if you don’t like independent films, well its tough as thats what we have here. Now thats out of the way, Mol Smith wrote this independent U.K. made film with a cast that are nothing more then enjoyable to watch. The film consists of 2 female leads that are not only pleasing to the eye but can hold their own with a script that can be quite confusing if you leave the room for a moment. The beginning of the film sees a gypsy woman in a caravan (naturally)doing the usual tricks of the trade when she is thrust upon by 2 masked individuals who do god knows what to her, we will see a little later on what this means.
But let us jump foward 30 years in the film. Rachel (Samantha Morrish) plays a young single artist with a keen eye on the naked woman form but with slighly disconcerting imagery. A gypsy (different one now) called Leah (Jody Jameson) breaks down in her caravan outside her house and needs somewhere to stay a while. This now brings us our 2 alluring female leads together. Leah is a gypsy with a serious need for sex as she drops her clothes at any given moment, much to the like of Rachel. Now if your waiting for a full on lesbian scene, well you do get a little one but thats besides the point. The film covers something that I can only recall being done in a few films, a succubus. This is what makes this film more interesting by the fact it touches ground that has very rarely been touched. The film covers demons, lesbains, the paranormal, cults and is not just your standard independent film. Leah and Rachel have their moments in the film where Rachel thinks Leah has lost the plot, but as she sees Leah is telling nothing more then the truth. I won’t say too much about the film as it has to be seen in its entirety to enjoy. I will say that the script, the imagery and the music go well together to form a movie that you won’t forget any time soon. Oh and if you watch right upto the credits you will get to hear a cover of……yep thats right Soft Cell’s TAINTED LOVE.
