DON’T GO TO THE REUNION **** USA 2014 Dir: Steve Goltz 70 Mins
Everyone has this nightmare……the school reunion, but unlike the characters in ‘DON’T GO TO THE REUNION’ you got away easy!
A perfect homage to the 1980’s slasher genre brought alive by Slasher Studios with just a touch of 1990’s slasher thrown in for good measure. 6 high school friends decide to pull a prank on the horror geek Scott Rantzen by planting a knife in his locker with a note. Thinking it is just a joke they have played on Scott it is taking a little more serious by the school as Scott has macabre drawings of his classmates in his locker alongside the planted knife. Thus Scott Rantzen is kicked out of school…never to be seen again.
Jump forward 10 years later where all the pranksters have received an invite to a high school reunion. Coming along for the ride is David Holland, Erica’s boyfriend of a year who seems just a tad keen to get her to go to the reunion. Upon going to the reunion David meets Erika’s friends and what a prime bunch they are, the jock, the slut, the mentally superior and the drunk. Yes that is correct we are back in cliche country, which if you don’t like that you won’t like the rest of the film as it is full of cliches. From cat scares to “oh it’s you” moments, Slasher Studios have compiled a best of slasher films with ‘DON’T GO TO REUNION’. Can you work out who the killer is before it is too late? The kills are a great nod to horror fans as you can watch and guess what film the kill is referencing before the end where all is revealed. A special mention to the character of Christopher played by Nick Sommer who adds a great level of comedy to the horrific goings on at the reunion.
