THE RUMPELSTILTSKIN KILLER *** USA 2015 Dir: Chelsea and Preston Corbell 7 Mins
Demented Gnome Productions are back after giving us the brilliant ‘THE NAME I KNOW’ (review here) with this new short, ‘THE RUMPELSTILTSKIN KILLER’. Opening with a man walking the length of a car park to get to his car nothing seems wrong as he drives off and we see the headlines of a local newspaper telling us that said man was a teacher of a high school and has been involved in a hit and run accident leaving him hospitalized with serious head injuries.
As the film progresses we see that our man now known as Jonah Stilinki is severely mentally unstable and as one newspaper quote states “He thinks we stole his face”. Escaping from his hospital Jonah now going under the name ‘The Rumpelstilstksin Killer’ seeks revenge on those who ruined his life. Another short film by the team of Chelsea and Preston Corbell that is fast paced, well shot and shows that even without a budget you can tell a whole story in just 7 minutes! Whether this is a universal thought or just my own remains to be seen, but I for one would love to see the main character explored more either in a longer short or in a feature length film. A sure fire crowd pleaser.
