“a damn good film that sheds light on feminist issues plaguing Brazil and the surrounding region in a novel way.” – J. Hurtado, ScreenAnarchy

“a bold exploration of female agency and spirituality” – Raquel Stecher, Quelle Movies

“A thought-provoking film that presents a powerful, confident point of view on feminism and religion.” – Louisa Moore, Screen Zealots

Breaking Glass Pictures is proud to release the SXSW religious thriller RAQUEL 1:1 directed by Mariana Bastos (Something Like That) on VOD on iTunes/Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Google Play, Vudu, Vimeo, and through local cable & satellite providers, digital.

Raquel is a religious teenager who moves with her father to a small town, in search of a new life. During her first days there, she has a mysterious experience during which she believes she is given an important and controversial mission related to the Bible. Alongside her new friends, a group of evangelical girls from the local church, Raquel dives deep into her spirituality and relives the pain of profound traumas. With support from some and resentment from others, Raquel tries to balance herself in a disturbing spiral of faith, reason and madness.

RAQUEL 1:1 world premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival and went on to play São Paulo International Film Festival, MOTELX – Lisbon International Horror Film Festival, North Bend Film Festival. The film stars Valentina Herszage as the titular character Raquel, alongside Priscila Bittencourt, Emílio de Mello, and Ravel Andrade.
