The lone survivor of a serial killer’s attack tries to cope with the death of her friends and the harm that he caused her. Unfortunately she fears that what may have just been a terrible incident that will have scarred her physically forever may also have led to her releasing her true self. The whole idea of this film seems to be that it wants to take you beyond what the final girl experiences in a horror film and show you the trauma and emotional state she has to live with. Well unfortunately as much as the ‘survivor girl’ Penny Warren (Danielle Donahue, (‘QUEEN CRAB‘) tries her best to have us feel sorry for her and hope she gets her revenge, it is a bit bland. The film has a pretty good opening with industrial style music playing over the chase scenes and the final showdown with the killer.
But then what happens is so shocking, so traumatising you won’t believe what has happened. No sorry can’t fool you into thinking it is going to be great, she survives with a bad knee and a damaged eye, does alot of feeling sorry for herself. She becomes friends with the cop who has decided to take it on himself to be her knight in shining armour, and then she snaps and you think great, now we will get the ass kicking revenge girl we want…..no? Sorry again, it only happens for about ten minutes and then its back to bland boring snore-fest. Some how this film is 102 minutes long, it comes across as a potential short film idea (20 minutes or so) and then they decided to split the two best parts of the film in half (which isn’t saying alot) and fill it with utter boredom. The tagline on the box says VICTIM (ok you can have that one) SURVIVOR (sort of) AVENGER (when? what?).
