Film Review: SHADOW WORLD: THE HAUNTING OF MYSTI DELANE (2015)

SHADOW WORLD: THE HAUNTING OF MYSTI DELANE ** U.S.A. 2015 Dir: Daniel Falicki 73 mins

Troubled teen Mysti Delane messes with witchcraft and brings back something evil from the other side to the real world that will ultimately leave her fighting for her very life.
Another film directed by Daniel Falicki that will have its admirers of his previous works as this film is also character driven. His films do tend to have an art or stage play feel to them which in films such as ‘AEON: THE LAST VAMPYRE ON EARTH‘ worked but here it just makes the film dull. There is some interesting shots of Mysti walking through the shadow world and the film has an aged look to it as is evident with the purposely done fake scratches etc. The film is slow and while this wouldn’t normally bother me too much, in this instance I couldn’t wait for the film to be over. I won’t blame the actors as they do well with what they are given but the story is stretched to breaking point and keeps going after the break. Fortunately everyone has different tastes and while I didn’t enjoy this film, others will enjoy the melodrama being played out in front of them.
