RED LETTERS *** USA 2019 Dir: Jim Klock. 86 mins
When a deputy goes missing, PI Jim Knowles (Jim Klock) is called over to investigate when details don’t add up. Unwilling to accept the story of the missing individual faking his own death, Jim calls upon his friend Mike Gaston (Mike Capozzi) who has psychic abilities to look further into the case using their skills to get to the truth. Realizing theirs more to the story the deeper they dig into the mystery, a larger supernatural mystery is soon unraveled that puts his faith into question as he attempts to put everything together.
For the most part, “Red Letters” comes off rather nicely in spite of a few limitations. The most obvious here is the low-budget for such an ambitious storyline involving religious prophecies and a doomsday scenario that eventually emerges, this is quite grand in scope with a pretty big tale involving the events taking place that eventually result in a large supernatural possession scheme. This does become more apparent in the final half where it becomes apparent that demonic entities are looking to take over. That most of this is accomplished more by dialog with essentially two people for the majority of the film which could somewhat of an issue for those looking for a more lively experience since this produces an overly talky setup that can keep some from enjoying this one.
