Crew members on board a military spacecraft face a terrifying choice after their craft is attacked, which leaves them only enough air for two of them to return safely to their base. All the crew members must make a choice by accepting their fate or betraying other crew members to save their own lives.
Surveillance vessel Ares 11 a peace keeping space vessel is attacked and slowly begins to leak oxygen as the tanks took the brunt of the hit to the vessel the crew fight for survival as paranoia and fear set in as they race against time when the crew members refuse to except their fate that there is only enough oxygen for two of the crew to return safely to their base. It’s everyone for themselves as they try to return safely to the base alive.
This film was made with pure heart there is so much passion in the production of this movie even the ship used wasn’t the standard CGI but instead a hand crafted model made from an old water tank. I found a video on the films vimeo channel with an in-depth look at how the model was made this can be seen in the directors log video for free on vimeo.
First off this film has great cinematography and stunning production design and to have this on a very low budget indie production is a feat of its own.
The tagline for the movie “In space, air is your most precious cargo”..is one of the best taglines ever not only does it sum up the movie perfectly within a few words but not since Alien has a tagline been used so greatly from the classic Alien tagline “In space no one can hear you scream”.
Ares 11 did very well in the festival circuit playing at some great events and even getting awards it’s a great film and should be more widely known.
Director Robert Goodrich did an amazing job here creating a low budget sci-fi production with a great atmosphere, with more tension than you can shake a stick at and a film that is scarily claustrophobic.
Fans of all sci-fi and sci-fi horror thrillers will enjoy this killer indie flick.
A very good independently made sci-fi effort!
