TALON FALLS *** U.S.A. 2017 Dir: Joshua Shreve 75 mins
Starting off like the ending of THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (1974) we are soon introduced to four friends out on a camping road trip. On their journey they stop for fuel and find an advert for a Halloween theme park called Talon Falls Screampark, (a real place, in fact also where most of the movie was filmed) and decide it would make a great detour from their planned trip. As they walk around Talon Falls they see the usual stuff you would expect at these sort of things, masked jump scare performers, loud noises, macabre looking rooms and blood…so much blood. It is only when they are captured do they realise that this theme park is more then what they bargained for.
Now those who remain must fight for survival and hope they get out in one piece. Joshua Shreve wrote and directed this movie and it is a movie that works on two levels, a torture porn-esque horror film and an over the top advert for the real Talon Falls screampark. It is a great location for a movie and the filmmakers make the most of it. The four lead characters are your usual suspects in these sort of films but the actors do a good job, though it is the pig masked and doctor killer characters that steal the show with their performances. Though this film is nothing new it was fairly short at just over an hour long and it was an enjoyable watch. Just bare in mind if you ever go to TALON FALLS this is one theme park that will cost you more then just an arm and a leg.
