Film Review: FRAZIER PARK RECUT (2017)

Peter 'Witchfinder' HopkinsBy Peter 'Witchfinder' Hopkins10th March 2021No Comments2 Mins Read

FRAZIER PARK RECUT **** U.S.A. 2017 Dir: Sam Hanover, Tyler Schnabel. 71 mins

Two filmmakers begin to film their very first feature film, but discover that the process of filmmaking is anything but easy!

Frazier Park Recut takes a dark voyeuristic look at just what it takes to create a film at a truly independent level.

Frazier Park Recut is a found footage horror movie about two struggling filmmakers trying to make their very first feature film. Anybody who has attempted to make a film at any level will empathize with the characters here, and will surely see some very familiar ground in which they are treading.

This film does intercut with several reels. As there’s more than one film being crafted here the end result is more of a document or a documentary as we follow the filmmakers.

This works very well, not only do you feel like a fly on the wall peering into their production but you get drawn into their crazy world.

And if anything I was left wanting more as the film has a very short runtime of around 70 minutes. I was literally shouting at the TV, “Noooo…I want more!”.

The two main actors, Sam Hanover and Tyler Schnabel were so damn good. This was some of the best indie acting I’ve seen in a very long while.

If you are a fan of Creep, Blair Witch and found footage horror thrillers or even the Duplass brothers you will enjoy this film on some level.

A nice fresh take on this style of found footage film.
