MEATHOOK MASSACRE PART VI: BLOODLINE *** U.S.A. 2020 Dir: Jerimiah Douglas. 67 mins
MEATHOOK MASSACRE is a fast developing series of films which began back in 2015. With MEATHOOK MASSACRE PART VI: BLOODLINE now in the books, that is six films in six years tying MEATHOOK MASSACRE with the FRIDAY THE 13TH franchise for most sequels being developed in a short frame of time. Dustin Ferguson directed the first, second and fifth movie in this franchise but here is credited as associate producer, assistant director, editor as well as having a brief appearance as a weird neighbour. Ferguson relinquishes the reins of the franchise this time to first time director Jerimiah Douglas and it is a splendid debut.
Just in case you have never seen any of the previous films you get a long bit of text on screen narrated in true THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE style, to help those uninitiated to the Fleischer family and specifically Bubba the meathook killer. Without giving too much away the film follows Kelly and Diana as they come to terms with the death of their parents and the fact that they were adopted and having to now live with their supposed real parents. As the film progresses the reality of life with this new family hits hard and sordid family secrets are revealed leading to a thanksgiving meal that no one will forget.
Robert Lankford is back as Bubba, meathooking his victims and scaring the crap out of people who cross his path. Also Deborah Dutch returns to the franchise for the first time since MEATHOOK MASSACRE PART II as the flesh hungry (in more ways then one) Aunty Deb. Alexys Paonessa ups the ante with her gory sfx skills alongside her assistant Jose Dominguez. No doubt this isn’t the last time we see Bubba with his growing family and if this sequel along with the previous films are anything to go by its going to be a bloody good time for all.
